Accredited by Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA)
St. Catherine School is a private school and operates under the auspices of St. Catherine Parish and with the direction of the Hawaii Catholic Schools under the direction of the Diocese of Honolulu. We are licensed by the Department of Human Services and are a member in good standing of the National Catholic Educational Association. We are accredited by the Western Catholic Educational Association and The Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
St. Catherine School opened in 1946 with Kindergarten through grade four classes. Each year, one grade was added until we reached Eighth grade. The first class graduated in 1952. In 1984, in response to the community needs, we added a preschool class.
St. Catherine School is committed to providing a Catholic education for the whole child, preparing each to be a responsible member of the community. Inspired by our founders, we strive to live the mission of Jesus, expressing the core values of education, justice, charity and freedom. We recognize parents as primary educators, and teachers as facilitators of discovery and learning as students continue to pursue excellence in their spiritual, academic and personal lives.
St. Catherine School is rooted in Catholic doctrine and traditions. We believe that every child is created in God's image, endowed with unique gifts enabling each to respond to the call, challenge, and commitment of Christian life in the modern world. We believe that a coordinated community including parents, students, faculty and administrators is essential to the development of each student's ongoing intellectual, social, moral, and physical development. We believe that Jesus' teaching are the foundation for all learning at St. Catherine School. This prepares our students to meet the challenges they encounter as lifelong learners.
